For the last few weeks, a robin has been busily building a nest in a crepe myrtle tree directly outside my office window at home. We've watched her import twigs and grasses and then peck and stomp them into place. Every once in a while she's flown in a real treasure, like the shoelace she wove into the nest's foundation. Construction is now complete, and my new friend has become a reliable fixture outside my window -- sometimes snuggled, sometimes perched, but always right there in that nest (unless her partner is on duty, as he is now). The parallels are obvious and beautiful, and a nice reminder through all the craziness that everything is, in fact, just right.
