If Baby Fausto's experience is any indication, we'd say the local foods movement is alive and well. In his first seven weeks, baby has visited at least a half dozen different farmer's markets in three different states. Memphis was his first, making an appearance when he was just two weeks old. In the last couple of weeks, he' s hit markets in Berkeley, California and Durango, Colorado as well.
Here are baby and mama at the Durango market this morning, where we picked up local eggs, meat, and lovely greens. I was reminded once again how much local eating stands to teach us about the environment we're in. Today's market, for example, made obvious that before Durango was a mountain bike mecca, it was ranch country; local meat, dairy, and honey were available from several purveyors, but there was literally not a single piece of fruit to be found.

I am always very happy to read about Faustito’s adventures and bilingual progress through this magnificent electronic media. I know that last time I heard him he was definitely vocalizing in Spanish!
Bravo Faustito!
Te quiero mucho!
