The second trimester is the happyland everyone had promised. Some experience extra bliss and extra energy, but I just feel back to normal, which by most standards is extra. Here's what it looks like day-to-day:
I wake up ravenous, and hit a bowl of cereal immediately. I've been working on tactics to give Wm. a 5 minute headstart on prepping his breakfast so we can actually eat together.
Within three hours, it's time for "second breakfast" -- often something more involved than cereal: soup, eggs, leftovers, etc.
My energy level feels normal, and I'm getting regular exercise, running a few days a week, doing prenatal yoga on Mondays, riding my bike 5 days a week, and now doing light lifting a couple of times a week at the gym. I've also splurged on a midweek ritual, prenatal massage. I'm working on getting back to my old routine: exercise regularly so I can play once a week. Maybe I'll finally kayak this weekend, but it's suddenly bitterly cold.
Given that every year I train for something hard (half marathon, billion mile bike ride), I'm making this pregnancy my project for the year. My goal is to stay fit and bounce back quickly.
My belly is round like a toddler's, starting its curve at my pelvis and turning in again at my rib cage. Some days there's no denying the baby inside, while others its undetectable. Last week I buttoned up an old size 6 skirt and looked utterly unpregnant.
