Checklist: crawling, eating, crashing

Like the rest of us, Fausto is making sure he ties up all loose ends before the end of the year. Yesterday he ticked two major developments off his list: crawling and eating. First came the crawling, which he does backwards, and not yet forward. While the crawling itself was pretty spectacular, even more so was the way he unveiled his new skill. In the 2 minutes no one was looking, Mr. Baby pushed all the barriers off the (thankfully low) futon and launched himself onto the floor, booty first. I guess that's three milestones, as that was his first crash. He was fine, no bumps or bruises, and the crying was quickly soothed by nursing.

Then last night -- crossing our fingers that a stuffed belly will make for a sound sleeper -- we busted out the rice cereal, mixed it up with some breastmilk, broke out the cute little baby spoon, and sat Fausto down to join us for dinner. He wasn't particularly interested in the food, but the time-honored airplane game (in Spanish) made it entertaining enough to endure and maybe even enjoy. He also slept a tiny bit better last night -- three wake-ups instead of, er, a million.

Emboldened by sleep and the first earnest food experiment, we introduced Fausto to bananas this morning. Here's his verdict. It's almost three minutes long, but worth staying with it to catch his final expression.
