Papa-daddy and Monkey are up early this Thanksgiving morning to say how thankful we are for the 6 months of excitement we've had so far. (T-mama is thankful for a bit more sleep.)
We're having a grand time with Monkey's Abuela y Abuelo in Livermore, now that Mama's big conference in San Francisco is successfully complete (that would be one chaired double-panel, one paper presentation, and four job interviews). Our hosts in SF, Em and Brandon, were fantastic, and we enjoyed spending some extended time in the city with them, Paige, and Rebecca, who made a special trip up from LA to see Mr. Monk. As well as the conference went for the rising academic superstar who is Mama, what we were really grateful for was the extraordinary food options we took advantage of for every meal, including great sushi, bagels, and an amazing evening of what Mama assures us was authentic Peruvian cuisine. OK, so the "we" part is just Mama and Papa, as Monkey is still on an exclusive diet of leche.
Since then, Monkey has had great fun with his primos Elijah and Suri, who made the trip out from Las Vegas with their parents for an early Thanksgiving with us, and seeing all the Poolnight gang and attendant children at our favorite Mexican restaurant in the old Berkeley neighborhood, not to mention Papa's old friend and bike-racing teammate Rich, and Mama's old climbing partners Leah and Jere. But Fausto's been maybe most happy about spending time with his big brother, Wen; he even has a special monkey call for him.
Today, before we dig into another feast, Fausto and Mama are going to try out their brand-spanking-new baby backpack (that's a backpack to put baby in, not one to put on him) on a hike.
We hope all of you out there in bloglandia also have a great day of thanksgiving with loved ones; we're all so grateful to you for the love and support we've received during this extraordinary year.

My goodness, Monkey is getting so big! In the picture he is as "tall" as T-Mama from head to waist.
