That day we drove a couple of hours from Mérida to Chichén to conduct interviews, one of which was with the woman pictured below, Fausto's new Maya grandmother. Once we finished our interviews, the recording engineer and I snuck out to the archaeological zone for some quick exploring. Luckily Fausto's Abuelita was there to take great care of baby. The last picture is of the two of them exhausted from all our adventures, asleep in the VIP lounge at Chichén. They enjoyed getting to break in the new sofa and ultra powerful air conditioning, which is part of the remodel for Plácido Domingo's concert here in October.

Fantastic pictures! Glad to see that the trip seems to have gone well. Hope the interviews were interesting and that you get to relax a bit now you're back. I'm fine, though missing Ivan, Memphis, the house and y'all. It's nice to see colleagues and grad students, though I can do without all the yuppie undergrads. Oh well. Eat some Memphis vegetables for me.
Besos, Kate
